PERSEVERE AND KEEP YOURSELF IN THE LOVE OF GOD

The love of God gives life. It gives a sense of purpose. In His love there’s abundance of mercy and compassion to rescue those who are perishing so they can encounter this life giving love.

It’s important that we learn to dig a well of love in the hearts of those we love. We must ensure that this well we’re digging will eventually overflow with God’s love (An overflowing fountain of the love of God). This will enable us to break barriers that have been holding us captive from moving to new levels of growth.

We must learn to persevere and remain faithful while digging this well of love. Whilst digging in the hearts of loved ones, let’s continue to pray in the spirit to build ourselves in the most holy faith and keep ourselves in the love of God.

Jude 20-23

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.

What is digging a well of love? Digging a well of love in the hearts of those around us is being patient with them when they are at their weakest point in life. It is discerning hardened hearts that reject the principles and the ways of the Word of God. When we dig a well of love, we’re afforded an opportunity to go deep in the root of the problems that have caused the hearts of our loved ones to be hardened. You could find that they have been hurt so much that the hurt yielded discouragement, anger or even just a bad attitude towards the things of God. Those who have been hurt ended up building walls around their hearts for safety. Digging a well of love is breaking these walls, going inside the heart and feeding them with the Word that heals and saves from destruction. (Psalm 107:20)

Digging a well of love requires us to have patience. When walking with those who are wounded we must gaurd against being judgemental and critical as this will send back the wounded inside their walls and they will never let us inside again in order to help them heal. Jude says snatch them from the flames of judgement while being cautious and discerning.

Let us ask God to equip us with wisdom, more of His love and compassion as we dig the well of love in the hearts of our loved ones. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us as we navigate through the hearts.
